Hello Bank of America. I’ve been a customer for a long time. Since 1993 in fact, when I first moved to St. Louis. In those days online banking wasn’t a real viable option. I actually opened an account at Boatmen’s Bank at that time, but you acquired them sometime later and my account was absorbed like many others.

I sent this note to you via one of your forms in your online banking app, but I have no confidence it will result in any meaningful change. Why do I say this? Let me count the reasons.

1. Communication. I used…

After work and home, your third place is the place you spend time and build community.

Wikipedia tells me that “[Ray]Oldenburg [who coined the term] calls one’s “first place” the home and those that one lives with. The “second place” is the workplace — where people may actually spend most of their time. Third places, then, are “anchors” of community life and facilitate and foster broader, more creative interaction. In other words, “your third place is where you relax in public, where you encounter familiar faces and make new acquaintances.”

Characteristics of third places (from Wikipedia):

1. Neutral ground

Occupants of third places have little to no obligation to be there. They are not tied down to the area…

Believable universes stimulate curiosity, creativity, and imagination.

Science fiction and fantasy worlds are useful pattern languages because they are believable, familiar to many, and spark a feeling of surprise and adventure. They have an added benefit of being decoupled from the real world, and so not tainted by the pains and wounds of old grudges and conflicts.

And yet they are heroic stories, rich with adventure, trials and tests, good and evil, people coming together despite differences to create a world that they want to live in together, and life-affirming cultures and people and teams, blossoming with purpose and meaning. …

A fable with a moral and a recipe at the end.

Okay, today I want to tell you a story. This time, it’s a fable, which is like a fairy tale except it’s a teaching story. This one happens to be about a rabbit, a bunny rabbit. And the bunny rabbit lives in a hole, deep in the ground. This particular rabbit is afraid of the future. She is stuck in a paradigm, she used to love her rabbit hole but now she feels stuck. She feels stuck because her rabbit hole used to be a safe and happy place, but now it is becoming a less safe and more scary…

A recipe for purposeful node activation

Hello everyone!

I started an experiment this morning and it seems to be working quite well! I quickly formulated it into a recipe that you can try. This is a recipe designed to actually collect the ingredients for the world we want to create.

So please give it a try and let’s see what kind of thing we are baking here!

The next step in our world-growing exercise is to activate nodes in our purposeful network.

This is a recipe based on a theory which is still in development. It is also an experiment, to see how many people try…

Okay. This is about theories, having theories of life. So you can have a theory of life. Everyone, that is, if you want to know what you want to do, if you want to actually kind of point yourself in a direction and have a North Star, or something you’re going to navigate by, then you probably need some kind of theory of life that has a North Star so you know where to point yourself. It helps you navigate, right?

So you want to know what your theory of life is. And you can actually create a theory of…

Dear friends. Please join me Friday for an experiment that is also an invitation which is also a demo.

My dear fellow humans who have been on this same learning path, who have somehow caught the scent of this learning trail, this scientific research journey which leads to observations of pains and problems and pitfalls and potential that lead to creative paths and expeditions into the imagination which captivate the engineering mind that immediately inspire the engineer to start drawing blueprints which the practical mind insists must be achievable and the visionary mind then insists must be created at once, causing the practical mind to ask but how would it work, which kicks it back the engineer, and on…

It’s easy and it’s also hard and it’s also something you should do anyway. Here’s how to do it.

Your purpose may change over time, but you lab gets you ready for fuzzy search.

To join the School of the Possible this is all you have to do. It doesn’t cost money but that does not mean it’s easy.

Just write a medium post that clearly states your purpose in the world. Tell us about the place you want the world to become. There are a few examples below.

Episode five: A key to unlock the next level of human consciousness.

Okay, here we are. Episode five of our epic tale. This might be the last one for a while. I encourage you to savor it. But make sure you read it before May 4th, 2018. You will understand why if you keep reading.

Many people think the Empire Strikes Back, which we now call episode five, is the best Star Wars film ever. That’s a lot of pressure for episode five in my story about possibility. I don’t know how well I did on the last one. But I think you’re going to like…

The Lab of the Possible is the research and teaching arm of the School of the Possible.

Lab of the Possible.

Why are you here?

I am here because I am tired of hearing people say things are impossible. We must be willing to challenge and confront the boundaries of our environment if we ever wish to transcend them. The School of the Possible is a group of people who have decided to start with the assumption that anything is possible.

What are you working on, and why?

Here is the question I’m exploring right now:

What happens when a group of people decide to spend not their money, but solely their time and energy, to create a self-organizing, self-governing community, based on the core assumption that anything is possible?

Why? I…
