Scrum, My Life

first post?
So in 2016, I tossed up the idea of a personal blog, but given all the admin and commitment required to get it running, I thought I’d give Medium a stab.
Inspiration
Every day I work with clients building their products, be it a mobile or web app or a series of video courses, or just fixing the business. I noticed a phenomenon when I consulted with friends company, now this ‘friend’ is the messiest creature I have ever met, no seriously his flat is gross. His business on the other side? pristine clean and in order, now yes there are a lot of reasons we do this but it made me examine myself.
The projects I manage are fast efficient and run on schedule objectives and goals are met, requirement fill everything seems to run so well. My life? I thought it was well managed until I looked at it from the perspective of my field.
A Mess…
Ok I wouldn’t say that ‘David’ the project was a complete failure but it was over budget and behind schedule. I think this is most obvious by the email I have needed to write for 2 weeks now…
Fix it!
Ok so going forward I am going to create a business case for me, specifically for 2016. This idea started somewhere between JLD’s freedom journal where I saw the key elements of a scrum project applied to goal setting.
So this will be a platform where I am going to explore the project of David
There are some longer term methods I want to take from business analysis and apply to my life, these concepts are hard to word, with this little thought, but number one priority is getting the current mess on track. How?
Scrum
So we are going to start with the backlog, for my life yes.
This will be everything that needs to be done to completed the greater goals. so far I see 3 major groupings. My Personal — My Business — My Property. That will probably last 30 seconds but it’s a good start.
Naturally as with real life scrum a 1-week sprint seems appropriate.
As best as possible, I am going to plan my sprints, at least, one month in advance.
This should be enough to start with. I’ll be back.
*Also why does medium HATE Grammarly? Starting to second guess medium now.*
