Hi Elliot, I share your frustrations with some of the recent efforts from Apple, however don’t forgot Google’s history of simply killing apps/services that users invested time and effort in adopting and using. Also Google’s way of handling failed hardware projects is to spin them out as standalone companies to sink or swim.
