Just Play Some Music

Why can’t we just have a band, play a song, and rock out? Why can’t we watch a singer simply perform, dance like hell, and woo us all with their moves? Or even surprise us with their dick guitars. Or dancing sharks.
There always needs to be a message behind everything, an agenda. Big time artists always have to use that big stage to change the world. Like they are obligated to. You don’t have to and nobody expects you to.
“Believe in Love.”
Coldplay, instead of worrying about getting a message out to make it seem like you care so much about humanity, why not just do what you guys do best: play music.
Your performance might have been better if you concentrated on putting on the best show of your lives in front of 111 million+ people.
You guys play music. You do it well. You’ve become highly successful at it. And when you’re given the chance to play in front of about 1/3 of the U.S. population, you worry about your fucking message, about love?
I think the message is great, but save it for people who pay to see you, who want that message. Don’t force it on everyone just because you can.
When you all were kids, was your dream to get in front of people and preach about equality and how beautiful it is? I guarantee it was to get on stage in front of as many people as you could and rock the hell out. You wanted to hear the crowd sing your songs back to you. You wanted to feel alive and on top of the world.
Just shut up and do what you’re famous for. We don’t always need the underlying motives. And if you have them, let them come out subtly through the songs. Shoving it in people’s faces won’t help. No one will love or accept any more because you sat on a stage in the middle of an NFL football field and told them to.
I like you guys. You can just play music, you know.
