That’s a mightily flawed premise to kick off an article with. Every second I am not working feels like life to me. And I love my work. I get to solve problems, learn new things, help people, and fire up my creative engines. When I am not working I’m still thinking, but, like most people, I get paid the same no matter whether I am actually working, or not. I get paid on results, not hours and not to fill a chair. If I take an hour for lunch (which I aim to do every day) and go for a walk, I certainly don’t feel like that’s money going down the drain. And I’m sure my employers don’t feel that way either (and if they did I’d get different employers.)
