The point isn’t to be better than someone else
Jason Theodor

This reminds me of a quote that I use for my disc golf team in the high school I work at. I aim for disc golf to catch people who don’t self identify as jocks and might be turned off by competition. The quote is from a huckster named E. Joseph Cossman who said, “Our business in life is not to get ahead of others, but to get ahead of ourselves.” So I guess it’s less about being yourself and more about being better than yourself.

And isn’t that what ADB is about? Self improvement with the possibility of inspiring others to do the same? That’s a noble cause and not greeting card philosophy because of the interaction involved. It’s total commitment to a daily process while having equanimity about the outcome because you know that not everything will be amazing. So don’t be too hard on yourself. ADB has inspired me to start a daily journal (a private one because I’m not as brave as you) and make some creative posters for disc golf. I like this and I like butternut squash.
