Does age matter in tech?
Steven Levy, veteran tech reporter, has a piece on Medium about achieving age diversity in tech. It’s worth a read, for a subject that isn’t often discussed.
Maybe a question that comes before how do we achieve age diversity is this — is it worth it? Does experience matter? I of course take it as a given. But maybe it doesn’t matter. Maybe tech can keep expanding and solving new problems without the experience we got in the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s when the net was booting up.
I wrote a long piece based on the assumption that it was self-evident that it did matter, but maybe it doesn’t. Also, hearing from people who are older than say 40 on this subject probably isn’t all that helpful. We all know how we feel about this. Nothing new there. What do people under 30 think about the value of experience? Is there anything useful in understanding how we got to where we are now?
