I understand your discomfort and the need to warn folks. I have taken the train from Detroit to Salt Lake City and experienced much of what you wrote. That said, traveling across the country for $213.00 should give most right minded people pause. That’s pretty cheap and in a world where you get what you pay for, you pretty much get your money’s worth. Let’s take each issue and improve it by turning the seats into comfy recliners, a full service snack car with freshly made food and provide entertainment during those long stretches of America’s heartland and I would imagine the $213.00 pricetag would probably triple at least. A price unreachable by many. Back to my trip. I did meet some very interesting people, saw some gorgeous countryside in certain areas and made it an adventure. I would do it again…
