Finding Purpose in a Podcast

Have you ever had a really good idea?

I mean way more than, “Hey! Let’s get a pizza.”

Did you make it happen or let it linger?

I’m asking because I had this idea for something I called “The Undig Project” — about 5 years ago. And then….

,,,NADA. (Well, I bought a domain name and got a logo made but that hardly counts.)

So why am I talking about this now? Because, over the last two months, I’ve launched The Undig Podcast.

It’s ok, you don’t have to be as thrilled as I am, just keep reading…

Here’s my deal: I suck at blogging (I’m a crap typist, so too much editing); I don’t love making videos (too many ack-faces and weird hair moments)

So I’m stuck with what?

My voice!

I like to talk — can’t shut me up; I grok microphones and all the gear and, now that the internet has caught up with my needs (thank you Internet), I can transcribe all my yak yak yak into (mostly) readable stuff.

And now I can podcast!

Three episodes on iTunes, one more to upload and the next three in my head ready to spill out and… Joe Rogan, I got 5 words for you!

Don’t. kick. my. ass. bro.

So How did it happen?

I got out of my own way and joined a group. Not a band — been there, puked on that — but a bunch of podcast wannabes just like me who had a message and a need to put it out there.

I’d been listening to Brian Rose’s London Real series for a while and, to be honest, I was inspired by his evolution from when he started to today.

Early on, I think I tuned in just to see the episiode where either he punched a guest or the guest punched him. That never happened (afaik) but probably should have.

Fast forward to today and he’s a top-notch interviewer, comfortable in the role; he built an exceptional business around his passion; he walks on water and small animals call him ‘brother-friend’….. forget that last bit, I’m just angling for a free LR sweatshirt.

(XXL in a hoodie if anyone is listening;-)

Anyway… nearly fifty of us, from all over the world, spent 8 weeks together in London Real’s Broadcast Yourself program, finding our messages, testing ideas, getting out of our comfort zones, challenging and supporting each other and in the end, surprising the hell out of ourselves and becoming real live podcasters!

Everything was laid out to build from week one through week eight; we navigated self-doubt, technophobia, fear, haters, successes, wins and more.

Brian and his coaches kept us on track and accountable, called us out when we were slacking, built us up when we were struggling and shouted out when we got things done.

What’s in it for you?

Pride, getting your message out, becoming stronger and bolder. World-wide fame seems only minutes away now. (Hey, I’m on freakin’ Medium! Hi Mom.)

Want a taste?

See what it’s about — checkout Broadcast Yourself now. See if it’s right for you — I recommend it really, really a lot. Like tons.

And if you’re really good, you can come on my podcast and tell the world about it.
