The overthrown head of state Alpha Condé and Colonel Mamady Doumbouya

Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun, said Mao Zedong, the Chinese communist leader. This just happened in Guinea on September 5, 2021. There, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya grabbed power through the barrel of a gun, ousting the 83-year old head of state, Alpha Condé. Prior to the Coup d’etat, Doumbouya was the Commander of Special Forces, an elite military unit created by no other than Alpha Condé. Stay tuned.
