Foundation Against Anxiety — Part 2

Text Psalm 37: 1–13
Introduction: Last week we laid the foundation for this wonderful series and we talk about what fretting is saying it’s to be anxious or worry. We also talked about the fact that Fretting happens to all of us and our level of anointing is irrelevant. Then we talked about how we can shield ourselves from the attacks of fretting by building a solid foundation in God.
In this part two we begin to look at the ingredients that make up this foundation. It’s a wonderful layers of ingredients and King David rightly gave us in order.
[3] Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Psalm 37:3 KJV
The first layer of this foundation is TRUST
It’s not a surprise that this comes first and it’s the most important of the mixtures you need.
What is Trust?
I define it as A-Level faith. You know Trust is not about what happens, it’s just about irrespective of what happens; my decision is resolute.
David said in Psalm 125:
[1] They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. Psalm 125:1 KJV
David in Psalm 37 mentions Trust first because that layer is immovable unshakable and it will withstand any form of fretting.
Let’s look at the 3 Hebrew boys when it comes to fretting and trust:
[16] Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. [17] If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. Daniel 3:16–17 KJV
This Hebrew boys showed faith here. The above verses is purely faith because they believe God will surely save His own from the fire. This has nothing to do with Trust.
[18] But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Daniel 3:18 KJV
We say Trust is A-level of faith because it goes beyond and above with even though
When you add Even Though to your faith it’s not ordinary faith, it becomes the senior brother of faith called Trust
This Hebrew boys said they will not fret even though God doesn’t save them from fire, they firm and resolute like Mount Zion that is immovable. Against trust, fretting doesn’t have a single iota of Hope, it’s dead or brain dead on arrival.
Trust is a wonderful foundational shield you can have in this end time. Oh my my, if you can allow the Holy Spirit successfully build this foundation for you, people will just be wondering how you able to withstand all that comes against you.
Now let’s look at the effects Trust has as written by King David
[3] Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Psalm 37:3 KJV
1. You will do good: Holiness is a resultant factor of Trust. You start to walk right and you start to obey the commandments of God. It overrides the carnal nature and a procedural flow of strength comes from being immovable and resolute that sins you struggle with just gets broken off without you applying tactics of the flesh or 101 ways to combat it.
You will just do good.
2. You will dwell in the Land: This is important because it means not everyone dwelling in the land are currently dwelling in the Land…lol
Can you see how powerful the Word of God is?
A reference is made to Mount Zion because it’s the place on earth that will remain in the Day of the Lord.
[26] Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. Hebrews 12:26 KJV
Mount Zion which is a symbol of Trust will not be moveable on the Day of the Lord because Jesus lights up the area. On the Day of the Lord, God will shake everything up ⬆️ so that things that don’t have Trust are removed from the Land
Let me not go into Revelation mysteries this morning as that can go deeper and deeper.
But why David compare dwelling in the Lord with Trust is simply that, your possession is secured. We do have mini days of the Lord so there are always shaking too😆
3. You shall be fed: Come on, your belle go full. David said you shall surely be fed. Why does he say you shall surely be fed?
Because presently things might be hard for you and you just started the Trust process. Your job is not ok or you even jobless and to feed is a difficult one, lay this Trust foundation because it will shield you from fretting and you become available for the miracles.
See I am not preaching to you from knowledge alone, but also from Wisdom, which is the application of knowledge. I have been through this process and I am not speaking from a theoretical view but from a practical one.
Things might not look rosy when you lay this foundation but it’s a process and that’s why David said surely you shall be fed.
And notice that you shall be fed doesn’t bring a notion of you working but it’s someone who does the feeding😎
[1] The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. [2] He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. Psalm 23:1–2 KJV
When you Trust in the Chief Shepherd Jesus, you shall be spoon fed
Now it’s a process of time and that why we say true Trust is resolute and immovable. Look at the Hebrew boys again, they were fed antigen for fire 🔥 by the 4th MAN in the fire. When they came out Nebuchadnezzar issued a decree 📜 that fed them for the rest of their lives.
[29] Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. [30] Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, in the province of Babylon. Daniel 3:29–30 KJV
Promotion? What else do you need than this?
But the way you go about promotion has to be Trust Based because if it’s not, you will be eventually removed from it(the land) because you achieved it by moveable means.
