Thank you for the honesty. I’m creating a space/data startup in Houston, and I don’t think startups here suffer from all that SV insanity. I’m hoping to find developers and engineers that don’t want any of that SV nonsense.
I would never blow investor money on pointless bars at work, climbing walls, or insanely-expensive office furniture. I’d rather provide good healthcare and hire an extra engineer. Im not sure what’s so hard about hiring the right people, empowering them, giving them the tools to do good work, make good money, go home to an affordable house. That’s the plan.
Maybe more folks like yourself will get sick of the rat race and decide to move to Houston, or at least Texas (but not Austin…Austin has enough SV influence)
