Healthy Fast Food Guide | Five Guys | Detailed
Overview
Five Guys doesn’t have a grilled chicken option, but they do offer a lettuce wrap with their burgers, which allows us to reduce the empty calorie intake from the bun significantly. There’s a tiny nuance here between ordering two little hamburgers versus one regular hamburger that increases our nutritional intake.
Recommendations
Option #1 — Bunless Little Hamburger
Request your burger in a lettuce wrap. I would buy two of these instead of one regular bunless hamburger (see option #2 below) to get the extra veggies since they’ll add the toppings separately to each, which will lead to more nutrition.
For both recommendations provided here, ask for the following toppings:
- Green Peppers — high in antioxidants, maintains eye health and reduces the risk of chronic illnesses
- Mushrooms — lowers cholesterol, prevents diabetes, and improves bone health
- Lettuce — rich in antioxidants, prevents bone loss and improves heart health
- Onions — lots of nutrients, antioxidants, and improves heart health
- Tomato — improves heart health, fights cancer, and improves skin health
Option #2 — Bunless Hamburger
Request the same toppings as above. I would rate option #1 slightly better than this one because ordering two of the little ones is similar in protein while increasing the vegetable intake all around. The difference is minor, but something to keep in mind as a nuance with Five Guys.
