Manage your time before time “manages” you

I could try to explain you why time management is so important today, but that’s a waste of time and you wouldn’t continue reading this post. If you start reading is because, just like me, you know that 24h per day are usually not enough for everything you have or wish to do.

Run, rush, run. . .

To start, I’ve already made a mistake, 24h is not a realistic starting point. There is time we spend sleeping, feeding our bodies, souls and/or relationships (if you don’t spend this time I’d definitely advise you to start doing so).

When we speak about work, forget those 24h per day and focus in some good 8h per day.

It might seem strange but that’s the first challenge we should face in Time Managing:

How much time do we actually have? How much time should we have?

Each one of us might have different answers according with our age, responsabilities and aspirations. Not pretending to have all the answers in the world I’ll share my experience.

Family comes first! Therefore my health also must came first so I can always assist well my family (trying to quit smoking also…keep your fingers crossed!). In my job at I have the advantage of being able to manage almost totally freely when and how I’ll spend my working time which should be 35h per week. I know that I am in a very good situation right now, to have time to write about time management!

But, in this moment I am experiencing one of the biggest time management challenges I ever had. I have 7 hour per day to communicate with potential clients, run the eshop and prepare the launching of ********** (surprise, coming soon!).

If we focus only in the Travelite Store we’ll find many important tasks:

  • capture payments and fulfill orders
  • customer service
  • improve the conditions and terms with our suppliers and delivery companies
  • assure that our store is in the biggest marketplaces in Czech Republic
  • expand the business to other countries
  • improve the webpage: aesthetics and functionality
  • improve SEO and developing of marketing strategy
  • be active in social media
  • don’t panic and trust everything will be ok!!!

In the end of the day, when you haven’t managed everything you wanted and can’t fall asleep thinking about what still has to be done…please realize that Tomorrow is a New DAY! I am learning that the best way to don’t let the time enslave you in running like a crazy man all day long, is to be grateful we are who we are and where we are, knowing that nothing (including money) is so serious that would be important enough to make you loose your sleep, your peace and your time.

“Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can’t make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you’ll never get back. Your time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can give someone is your time.
It is not enough to just say relationships are important; we must prove it by investing time in them. Words alone are worthless” — Rick Warren,
