Syntax

I discovered this podcast recently, and I’m been bingeing it hard.

The format is a conversation between the two presenters, Wes Bos and Scott Tolinski — where they mostly talk about Javascript related web development.

As far as tech podcasts go — I’ve found this one the most practical in terms of learning web development concepts.

Software Engineering Daily

https://softwareengineeringdaily.com/

This is the first explicitly technical podcast I got into.

The format is the host Jeff Meyerson interviewing various industries leaders and about their field, and getting quite technical on it.

I’m always impressed by the range of knowledge Jeff has — whatever the concept is, Jeff always seems to be able to introduce it and ask good questions about it.

This podcast can be a bit drier than some of the others — and I don’t listen to all the episodes if they’re something I’m not especially interested in.

I have found it good for introducing concepts that I’ve heard of, but didn’t really know anything about (eg. Flutter, Web Assembly). This is a good podcast for keeping a finger on the pulse of where tech is at.

Recode Decode

The the format is an interview between the host Kara Swisher and often VIP guests (eg. Mark Zuckerberg) where they talk about the direction of tech, usually with more of a political of sociological lens.

Kara is quite a refreshing host to listen to — she facilitates the interview well, in a way that allows the guest talk about their worldview — but is not afraid to hammer home her opinion.

Decrypted

Infotainment podcast by Bloomberg, this podcast presents the more interesting issues in tech in an entertaining and enlightening and accessible way.

Bonus Podcast: Planet Money

This isn’t a tech podcast, but an economics one.

Short form podcast — each episode is only about twenty minutes long — it presents interesting little anecdotes from the world of economics.
