Getting Over Uber

Disruption is only successful if the market adopts an offered change. Uber offered a change, people have adopted it, ergo the market has changed. Uber is not forcing people to download their app or use it. They’re not forcing people to be Uber drivers. The Medallion system is archaic and if you asked all those cab drivers if they liked that process, most would say they do not. It only serves the taxi company’s that leverage their Medallions as an asset. But this “disruption” isn’t complete. The Taxi industry is responding with their own apps and their own improvements. Eventually we’ll see Uber and the Taxi industry merge into something better from both sides. And then we’ll have a truly responsive and “nice” car-based service.
