Launch Pad Alum Terrell Garrett Tapped To Write “Fear Is The Key” Remake For Cassian Elwes
Launch Pad alum Terrell Garrett has been tapped to write the script for FEAR IS THE KEY, the remake of the classic 1972 thriller starring Barry Newman and Suzy Kendall. Cassian Elwes will produce with Andre Gaines after securing the rights from StudioCanal.
The story, based on the book by The Guns of Navarone author Alistair MacLean, is set in Louisiana and follows a deep-sea salvager who kidnaps an oil heiress in a scheme to trap killers seeking gemstones in the Gulf of Mexico.
Garrett, who is a 2016 Cassian Elwes fellow on The Black List, previously landed on the 2013 Young & Hungry List as well as the 2013 Hit List for his action adventure spec Wolverton — co-written by Michael Stark. The duo are currently adapting Wolverton, which also placed in the top 3 in the first-ever Launch Pad Feature Competition, into a comic book series.
Garrett and Elwes have forged a strong relationship since the start of the fellowship, with Elwes serving as a mentor to Garrett through Sundance 2016. Garrett is also involved as an executive producer on Meridian, which Elwes is developing, and will share a screenwriting credit on the project with Henderson Hall. Elwes, meanwhile, is attached as a producer on Garrett’s latest script Twitch, which is currently out to directors.
Elwes is a producer on the forthcoming Hands of Stone starring Robert Di Niro and the recently-wrapped The Billionaire Boys Club with Ansel Elgort, Taron Egerton, and Kevin Spacey.
Garrett is currently unrepped.
