Wait But Why
It’s time to share another “little Internet treasure” 😃 In this case is one of the most nerdy blogs I know: Wait But Why. I knew about its existence a few years ago thanks to Monica, and now is one of my top 5 blogs. The fact is that I don’t know how to describe it, neither him nor its author, Tim Urban. It doesn’t look like anything I’ve seen before … To give you an idea, here is his TED Talk: Inside the mind of a master procrastinator:
Tim has a restless mind that is constantly raising big questions about all kinds of topics related to futurism, from Artificial Intelligence to the Theory of Evolution. Its great merit lies in getting deep insights, well documented, and tell them in a simple way, even using his own funny drawings. That doesn’t mean that Tim’s articles are light reading, in fact each post is like a small book, but he manages all these complex concepts and deep reflections to be understood perfectly. It is a mix between Randall Munroe (author of XKCD) and his books of “What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions” and “Thing Explainer” but exponential. A post from WBW will shake your mind and make you come to reflections and approaches never dreamed.
He has a talk entitled “Elon Musk, Mars, Artificial Intelligence & Other Not Normal Things About The Future” that I highly recommend. It shows the essence of WBW and the ability of Tim to cover all kinds of interesting topics and give them a twist, looking for hidden perspectives, asking accurate questions and getting intelligent answers.
