The intent of the Brookfield “Let’s Get Digital” event was to provide feedback to the Ontario Digital Initiative team regarding user experiences with government interactions. In general, the report reveals a gap in the communications and understanding of government processes, but more importantly reveals the total disconnect with marginalized groups like blind Ontarians. The event had minimal accommodation support for persons with sensory disabilities, and the Digital Action Plan appears to have no digital accessibility strategy to help Ontario achieve the goal of full inclusion by 2025. I can only hope that Brookfield will help to shift the cultural attitude from serving Ontarians with disabilities to a partnership of inclusion in decision making.
