Muhammad Ali was one of my biggest heroes. When I ran for public office last year, my statement in the Voters Pamphlet began with one of Ali’s most famous quotes: “The Viet Cong never called me nigger.” The King County (Seattle) authorities censored my statement, changing the N-word to “nig — -,” though I never received any complaints from the black community. This year, I’m running for office again, and I have a copy of that statement, along with Ali’s photo, on the home page of my campaign website @ I wish there were more people like Ali in the world today. It’s disgusting to see all the Demopublican warhawks gushing over his legend.
