If you think women in tech is just a pipeline problem, you haven’t been paying attention
Rachel Thomas

Thanks for this, I found this article to be a clear and well presented.

As a software engineer for more than 35 years and a manager of engineers for 30, I have sadly seen this over and over again.

Over the last 30 years I have been lucky enough to work with many female programmers, designers and architects, each one has been better organised, coded more thoughtfully, and has been more productive than 90% of their male colleagues.

What I have never entirely been able to decide is,

· was this because all women are actually better suited to software development and design

· was it because the male dominated environment made all but the most passionate leave to work somewhere with a better environment and prospects.

I have come to the conclusion over the years that it must be the latter and that is a great loss to my industry and to computing in general.
