Adidas & Tokenproof confirm token integration!
While I read the murk and toy on LinkedIn over PwC’s Decentraland efforts, I moved swiftly past given the younger sibling is a devoted employee and their Decentraland efforts are of little interest to me.
Did they not hear NFTs and Meta things are yesterday’s news and GPTs are all the rage? Arguably these AIs are doing the Web3 space a massive favour, diminishing any attention, trolling, and hate so the space can just dissolve and die away… after all, what is the point of owning a JPG you can just right-click and save? Duh!
Consider though, true innovation never ceases. Adidas has quietly done something out of the “blue”! (Get it?) Something that has far greater impact than our favoured banks and consultancies could ever do building empty meta lands!

For Adidas has taken on the march of Nike’s front runnings in lifestyle Web3! Given Nike’s early advantageous acquisition of RTFKT (an outfit of the space’s most promising) and its follow-on successes, it might have felt out of sight, but downturns come and unexpected consequences erode. Shouldn’t real community trust and utility hold value? Hmm. This tokenized Digital Community & DRIP thing is rather incipient.
Anyway, let’s get to the meat and potatoes! Adidas’s Confirmed APP is where you might have once bagged the Yeezy in a past life. The Apple Store app alone has 153k ratings, a remarkable 4.8* and the Google Play a similar 4.4* with an astounding 1M+ downloads. The ambiguity of “+” suggests true users figures probably far exceed. You can imagine my disbelief when, during some idle browsing, I saw some updates to the Adidas ITM original Web3 token! It had evolved into ALTs (likely their version of the PFP model w. traits). But the big news, stepping in with Tokenproof, Adidas pulled off a massive integration allowing their ALT token owners to validate ownership in the Adidas Confirmed App one of the “most exclusive destinations to shop for cool designer and collector trainers, shoes, and sneakers”. Different gravy?
TL;DR? Simply put— Adidas’s Confirmed app (of millions) now has the capability to verify owners of Adidas’s Ethereum ALT NFT tokens and therefore can offer token-gated features exclusively to their token holders within the Confirmed app. This is one of the biggest real-world integrations of NFTs into existing sales funnels I’ve seen!
While Nike’s RTFKT community holds tight patiently waiting months to quarters for digital to physical merch delivery Adidas do it different! After launching their NFT connection capability in the Confirmed app, they swiftly held gated merch drops to ALTs holders before delivering the products within 24hrs — all done and dusted before I could finish stuffing my face with Easter eggs!
It’s unfair not to point out Nike is busy with .swoosh and RTFKT and this is undoubtedly the beginning of a brilliant story in tokenisation that’s unfolding in front of us. Nike almost certainly has big moves up its sleeves that will integrate NFTs into its mass market too! We are in the foothills and it is set to be a blockbuster as DRIP marketing and Web3 token ownership fight to prevail alongside their Web2 and IRL counterparts!
This signals another powerful step forward in how people will begin to evolve and reinterpret their understanding of NFTs, tokenisation and utility as new value concepts begin integrating into everyday life as we shift ever closer to using more and more of the capabilities offered from blockchain technology!
