The critics’ view
Set My Heart on Fire Immediately by Perfume Genius was the clear favorite of music critics this month. It had the highest average score and was the most reviewed album other than two overtly pop albums.
The fans’ view
The overwhelming critics’ favorite wasn’t quite as overwhelming with fans but still registered a respectable number 5. It was looking like How I’m Feeling Now by Charli XCX would win the fans’ hearts (it was number 6 with critics). That is until 29 May, when Alfredo by Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist dropped. In two days Alfredo gazumped Charli to nab the top spot with fans.
