Live By The Gunn, Die By The Gunn
Will Disney Let The Animal Out Of The Cage?
Does Dave Bautista want out? Ever since his friend, James Gunn, director of both Guardians of the Galaxy films, got fired by Disney for offensive tweets he made about a decade ago, the former wrestler’s been delivering one Batista Bomb after another on his employer, Disney…

Clearly, Bautista’s not pleased with Disney and may be looking for a way out of his contract. Here’s what he had to say in a recent interview…
This follows another interview where he made the following (closing) remarks…
Sticking to his Gunn
Bautista’s not afraid to speak out publicly against Disney, and seems willing to lay his career on the line for it. Here’s a tweet he made taking a shot at Disney as well as the man who uncovered Gunn’s old tweets…
You gotta wonder how long Disney will put up with this? Bautista’s a loose canon and they’ve got to be weighing up whether it’s worth keeping him on board at all.
Politics is what got Gunn in trouble in the first place and Bautista may be heading down the same path of self-destruction…
Disney would like nothing more than for this problem to go away, but it seems like every time Bautista does an interview (to promote other films!) he gets asked about the Gunn situation and bad press follows.
If this is what he’s like promoting other films, imagine what he’d be like promoting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
It’s getting hard for Disney execs to tame the wild beast, formally known as “The Animal,” but do they have a choice? Here are 3 possible scenarios they can choose from, all of which are painful…

1. Keep Bautista On
Disney can force Bautista to honour his contract and complete the next film, but at what price? As we’ve seen, journalists will continue to ask Bautista for his opinion on the matter and being an “honest guy,” he’ll let them know exactly how he feels.
By forcing Bautista to shoot a film he wants no part of, they risk angering The Animal further.
Well, they could always…
2. Release Bautista From His Contract
This seems like an obvious choice, but is it really? By giving in to Bautista’s demands, what’s to stop others from using a similar tactic to get out of unwanted contracts?
Bash your employer publicly, get what you want.
Is this the message Disney wants to get out? Also, by letting Bautista go, they risk angering even more fans. Does Disney really want to add another casualty in the Gunn debacle? I don’t think so.

Disney could always bite the bullet and…
3. Just Rehire Gunn
If they do decide to rehire Gunn, Disney boss, Alan Horn, would have to eat some humble pie and admit he was wrong. Is he prepared to do that? What would that say about his leadership? Is this all about Ego?

Rehiring Gunn would be a spectacular backflip and Disney would cop a lot of flak/embarrassment, but will it be any more than the flak they’re copping now?
No Win Situation
It would seem that Disney is damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
If they rehire Gunn, that would appease many Marvel fans.
However, as a consequence, they risk alienating fans of Mike Cernovich!!!

And that would be a problem… why???
