Hi Ian — I think everyone will agree that building a business is hard work, wherever that is. Entrepreneurs anywhere recognize all too easily the harsh nature of starting and popularizing anything. So given this, when founders say “It would all be easier in the Valley” , I think they see “easy” as “an ecosystem where opportunities abound”, in comparison to a “harder” environment where there are little or less meaningful systems in place to encourage entrepreneurial endeavours. Startups are now a market like selling sneakers is a market; you won’t make it in a place where people are super happy walking barefoot. Choosing the right ecosystem to build your startup is part of the recipe towards success, along with the grind, sweat and tears.
