Creating Facial Expressions — Placing your character in a setting — Having your character take an action

UPDATE: Version 5 of Midjourney has changed things considerably and I will be updating this method as soon as I can for Version 5.

I have been experimenting with creating consistent characters in Midjourney and have developed some generalizable methods which:

  • Allow one to recreate a consistent character from one prompt to another.
  • Allow one to change facial expressions on a consistent character.
  • Allow one to place your character in a setting and even using a different aspect ratio.
  • Allow one to have your character take an action, even using a different aspect ratio.

In a previous Medium post, I had laid out how to change the facial expression on a character, while maintaining a consistent character (have the character look the same from prompt to prompt). I will repeat part this process.

To begin with, one typically generates 4 images with a prompt. For instance:
