BREAKTHRU Art Opening (Today thru 2/28/2019)
Now showing the award-winning art photography of Homeless Photo Activist David Freeman. After 2 years of being turned down by all SoCal Art Museums and all Galleries we are so proud to announce the first Gallery solo show of Mr. Freeman’s moving images of our most understood human beings. Yes “I Am Somebody” is the first art show on our SoCal Homeless in 20 years.
Tom Houchan, OC columnist, says “If you get an opportunity to go see one of David’s art exhibits you will find it to be an incredible experience, especially if you are someone that has experienced homelessness, like myself.
David has a knack for being able to tell a story through the lens of his camera and each of his subjects from one snapshot to another has a story to be told. For David, every homeless person he photographs is unique and every one worthy of having their story told. David’s artwork is likely to leave an impression on anyone, but sometimes unfortunately, the impressions last longer than the lives of the people he photographs.
If you go to one of his exhibits, try to go when he can be there to tell the story behind each and every photograph.”
Many say Homelessness is the biggest problem and issue of our time. Our citizens need to made aware of who these people are. Our art institutions, educators, politicians continue to turn their backs on artists and victims alike. Yes it is here- took 2 years of hard work but finally a Gallery where it can be seen.
Hope you take the time to look deeply into these images and be Somebody.
