How to Customize Tabs (Navigation) in Salesforce Lightning Experience

Learning new tricks is often daunting.

Switching from Salesforce Classic to the Lightning Experience is intimidating and overwhelming.

Keeping abreast of the latest differences between the Classic and Lightning options is challenging, too.

With the availability (and broader use) of the Lightning Experience in Salesforce, I am hoping to help streamline and simplify the learning curve for Salesforce Admins and new users.

In this article — I’ll show you how to customize the “tabs” (“Navigation Menu”) in Lightning Experience.

Go to Setup Gear > Setup Home

Search for Navigation Menus

Click New

Give Your New Navigation Menu A Name & Description

Press NEXT when done.

Choose Which Items to Display

Simply drag items from the left side — to the right, and sort them based on your own preferences. Press NEXT when done.

Select Which Profiles Should See This Navigation Menu

Simply drag your selections from the left to the right side of the screen. Press SAVE & FINISH when done.

Simply Refresh Your Browser — To See Your Changes!
