Living in California I knew little or nothing about the Brexit debate. From my distant and uninvolved position my gut reaction is that the pictures of the waves of Syrian refugees entering EU countries terrified lots of voters. “What if a million Syrians show up here?” I suspect many were thinking. My guess is that if the vast migration from Syria had never happened the vote would have gone the other way, but maybe I’m totally wrong. Am I? Seriously, Hope, what do you think? — David Grace
