Today was a good day…

That’s the thought that keeps coming to mind when I think of my day. There is certainly time for it to all fall apart, but I can’t think like that or I’ll never get anything done. So, this is also the first entry in my daily thoughts series. I think I’m going with Daily Dave for the name. Today’s entry is going to be mostly a recap of my day. This will probably only be interesting to me, but writers need to write every day, so away we go!

The day started out very nice and peaceful. I spent the morning getting a little work done on Sharon’s Story. After I finished up that, I contacted the client to have her approve the draft. I went to wake up my wife and get her all set up for her morning routine. She is fighting her way though several auto-immune diseases as well as another round of cancer. We don’t know the exact type yet but her scans and history combined are telling the doctors that she has some kind of lymphoma. The craziest thing we’ve been told is that even though they took her ovaries and uterus when she had the ovarian cancer several years ago, she could STILL HAVE OVARIAN CANCER! How screwed up is that? I mean really?!?!

Anyway, I got her all settled on the couch with some toaster strudel and Disney Channel. I then took the little man (our dog Charlie) for a walk. It was super hot outside and both Charlie and I were pretty much over the walk before it started. We got through it though, we are two real tough guys! If you see us coming, you better go ahead and get out of our way! Especially Charlie, he has no fear. Like none, unless it’s thunder. Then he has a lot of fear. Back to our patrol of the neighborhood. Charlie made sure that he reclaimed ownership of the entire street and every house on it by doing his patented handstand pee. After Charlie and I decided that the neighborhood was safe until the next time Charlie needed to pee, we headed back to the comfort of the highly air-conditioned house.

Fast forward to the afternoon and it’s time for HEADSHOTS!!! Now those aren’t the newest alcoholic treat sweeping the club scene. I mean it was time to go with my amazing professional photographer wife to shoot the head shots for my new freelance writing business! We packed up some outfit changes and her camera equipment and hit the road. We booked it down to the beach in what would turn out to be a failed attempt to beat the weather. By the time we arrived down at the pier, the sky was dark with storm clouds and the air smelled of impending rain. We decided to scrap the photo shoot and head for one of the beach shops and look for some new beach tees! We each picked up a couple of new tees and a new pair of sandals each (it was bogo day at Sunsations). When we came out, the rain was just starting and no sooner had we gotten in the car then the sky opened up and the downpour began! We decided that it was time for dinner and settled on some Texas Roadhouse. We had cheese fries for an appetizer and those amazing soft rolls. I had the chicken critters and fries and Ali had the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and apple sauce.

Dinner consumed and we are full and happy. We brave the storm and make it back home where we will settle in for a nice relaxing, rainy night. Hope you all have a great night! Thanks for reading!
