On Patron Data and Library Data
Christopher Harris

Still thinking about this. I think about half the stuff in your Patron Data side isn’t really … or at least it’s shared data. Circ history and search history, for example — it’s on the library’s ILS system, there are log files … it’s definitely library data that libraries can use. To make their collections better, to buy more stuff that people are reading and searching for, etc.

In fact, a library’s purchasing policies are somewhat tied to what customers check out and ask for. So … patron data? No, not really.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
