Questioning the love affair of the user.

I know what you’re thinking. It’s sacrilege in the product world to even suggest that the user is not at the center of everything. Don’t get me wrong. It is about the user. No service or product, digital or physical, can succeed if it doesn’t focus on the user’s needs and wishes.

But I think it’s not all about the user. As product designers, we have to be a little selfish. We have to remember our own love for the craft and indulge in that. Product design, like any job, can come along with a bunch of frustrations. …

Working out and learning self defense is at the top of many people’s to-do lists, but they often just can’t find the time to get to the gym or the studio. The idea for this product is to sell a monthly membership of online self defense classes that can be consumed from the comfort of one’s home. The challenge is marketing the product in an easy to digest way and building a product that the students will keep coming back to.
