Isn’t illegal immigration in part a capitalistic solution to lower prices? Shouldn’t the companies/persons knowingly hiring and exploiting this incredibly cheap source of labor be prosecuted also? With far fewer sources of work available, illegal migrants are less likely to attempt crossing the border.

But the corollary of eliminating illegal immigration and hiring legal citizens to do the job is to create additional problems. To pay that many people a living wage will have a ripple effect on the economy. It will push corporations running “factory farms” into more and more robotic labor sources, eliminating more jobs in the futhurance of machines as workers.

Maybe the solution lies in allowing the illegals who hold down jobs a path to citizenship without forcing them to leave the country first.
