Behavioural Interviews — What is an HR Manager looking for?

If you have an upcoming job interview with an international company (can we normalise using ‘professional conversation’?), you may be curious as to what it may look like when compared to an interview in your home country. We’re particularly looking at professional conversations which may occur in certain spheres such as Software Development, UX/UI Design, and so on, but this post could apply to any field in tech industries and beyond!
There may be many kinds of interviews, in relation to who is conducting it, the structure, and what you need to bring to the table for each one.
- Interview with a Recruiter
- Interview with a Hiring Manager
- Interview with an HR Manager
- Interview with a panel (incorporating more than person, for example a Hiring Manager AND HR Manager in the same room (or on the same call)
Let’s imagine you have been interviewed by a Recruiter, and have had an interview with a Hiring Manager, in which you would have primarily discussed your education and work experience. Now it’s time for the dreaded BEHAVIOURAL interview with an HR Manager!
