Once again you demonstrate profound ignorance of thermodynamics and physics and simply ignored my previous responses. This will be the last time I waste my time responding to this ignorance.
See the url I shared, a critique of the methodology of “World Authority” Charles Hall and others who mislead by minimizing the EROI of renewables and magnifying EROI of fossil fuels. Do I need to mention that one hour of sunlight on the Earth’s surface equals the total global energy consumption (corresponding to 18 TW) of human civilization?
This so-called 5th law is even more fallacious than the 4th! Renewable energy technology captures low energy energy from solar radiation and converts into work. It doesn’t magically create energy out of nothing. The EROEI ratio is a measure of how much energy is delivered by the technology compared to the energy input to create the technology and maintain it in its lifetime.
Thanks, I will. Nevertheless as I argued in my paper the energy supplies to the future will likely be greater than now, in a RE transition, taking into account increasing energy efficiency.
Thanks for your response. It is indeed heartening that RE creation is accelerating, but global GHG emissions have not yet leveled off (see http://unionsforenergydemocracy.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/TUED-Working-Paper-9_Web-1.pdf). It isn’t enough to create RE, fossil fuels must be curbed soon. Fossil capitalism is the big obstacle to make this happen.
Then give up all hope and tell the children and grandchildren of this world that climate hell is inevitable. Empires have fallen in the past. The Soviet Union and most allied regimes collapsed because they lost legitimacy in the minds of their citizens, and the same will happen with the MIC. And the real movement you mention is growing.
We owe it to our children and grandchildren to challenge fossil capitalism. The growing efficiencies of wind/solar will potentially undermine the legitimacy of the MIC and prevent the scenario you expect.
Did coal replace human/animal power as the main source of energy for society ? The critical parameter is the EROEI ratio of wind/solar and our modeling shows this transition is feasible. The alternative is climate catastrophe and unless you are a climate denier I hope you realize this.
