Limerick City from Thomond Bridge

We all know and love Ireland as a travel destination. The place is full of friendly people, amazing landscapes and scenery, and ancient castles and forts.

But most tourists visit the same places and cities all the time. The main cities tourists visit are Dublin, Cork, and Galway. Not many people venture outside of these cities on their travels to Ireland.

While Dublin, Cork, and Galway are all great places to visit, there are other places just as good or even better.

One of the places that are usually overlooked is Limerick City in the South-West of Ireland. It's such a pity because Limerick has so much to offer visitors.

In my opinion, Limerick is Ireland's most beautiful city and has a fascinating history and culture.

Limerick City sits on the banks of the majestic Shannon River, which is the longest river in the British and Irish Isles.

The city is home to around 100,000 people, so it's not too big, and it's not too small. It's the perfect size place to explore.

Limerick City was founded by the Vikings in 922 AD. The city is nearly 1,100 years old. It was then captured by the Normans in the year 1195. Both these groups have left their legacy and mark on this ancient city.
