The Art of the Incremental Clicker

Its Time to waste Time

If you’ve surfed the web for a time wasting game in the past year, I am pretty sure you have stumbled upon a game called “Cookie Clicker.”

This is a type of game in which users make cookies. Each click earns one cookie, and over time you develop your cookie production empire. Eventually after just a few hours of clicking your empire can amass to such extreme numbers.

Yes that’s Trillion.

These types of games are starting to surface and become gamer crack, and the constant growth and progression is what makes these so damn addictive. Why do i want to click this imaginary cookie to get more cookies?

Progression.

Its a core formula within these types of games. Click once to get [insert base], then click again to gain [insert production item] . Congratulations, this item is now producing your original item so you can click less. Rinse and repeat. I absolutely love it. It’s to the core what makes me love certain types of video games. It wastes time, gives me an objective with small goals i can achieve in the middle of them, and lets me accomplish them to my hearts content.

With the fear of sounding like an ad for cookie clicker, I present you my other favorite interval clicker: A Dark Room

In this instance if you haven’t played it, I can only describe it as such, You light a fire, and begin your journey. A journey to what, where, with who? You discover that on your own by just lighting a fire.
