The Apple is a lie

Apple does not do design anymore. What Apple does are pieces of art in fact dysfunctional pieces of art. And they are not even beautiful in some cases.

Yesterday Apple introduced (again) their Apple Watch, a device which arrives late compared with the android ones and very late compared with others brands like Sony or Pebble. Five years ago I got this proto-smartwatch from Sony and it did the same like the new ones but in a clumsy way. They are not inventing anything.

Apple also presented a new laptop, the macbook with a 12-inch screen and one single usb-c port. One port torule them all and do nothing. You can charge your battery, or plug a mouse, or plug a usb-drive, or plug a display-port… or buy a 80 €/$ ugly adaptor to plug more things at the same time. Is this design? No, it’s not.

The laptop is beautiful, yes, but it is not a good design. Design is function. Art is beauty, or concepts or ideas. Design can be beauty, and conceptual and it can spread ideas but the difference with art is that design provides functionality.

Design for Apple is doing things for dumb people, Apple is telling what to do and how to do it. Which is not good for them and erasing it drastically. Apple design is removing “expendable” things in order to create minimal and lighter designs. Design is to keep the functionalities and make it more accessible and people-friendly, not removing them.

Whether you like its design (or not), the Apple Watch is overfilled of functionalities and this could become a bad UX (user experience). Like all the other smartwatches, the Apple Watch needs to be linked to the phone, and in all other cases the wearable is a solution to quick access to notifications and do little actions at ease but the apple Watch has its own apps to do things that you can do properly with your phone. Is there a need to browse your pictures in a 1.7 inch display?

Some media stated that Apple has became a luxury brand company, and this bear my idea that most people with iPhones are like dumb people going to buy the milk with a Ferrari. There are a lot of cheaper phones which you can check your email with, take shitty photos with, post them on Instagram with and share stupid non-contrasted news on Facebook with.

Last but not least, the Apple Watch is utterly ugly.
