While this back and fourth has gone on, we just got an update that the Independent Police Review Authority supervisor for Chicago was fired, ostensibly for refusing to participate in coverups of unjustified shootings.

That is why the Bernie protests were the right thing to do. Is it sinking in how serious this is? How urgent? Rudeness or lackthereof is about as relevant as the inconvenience of putting a postage stamp on a letter containing the instructions for the cure for HIV to the NIH. If anything the rudeness is a good thing. It shows how honest and serious we need to take this thing.

It is great you see the need to change and update your perspective on this. But you need to see this as someone who is a potential target. Someone close to you, your family, your children, your sister, whomever is more likely to be shot, killed, unjustified, and an entire coverup by a city cop, than you will ever accomplish that particular goal you’ve ever wanted in life. Becoming president, winning that lottery, or gaining that dream job. Something.

You can take white privilege out of the conversation for a moment and actually imagine, as an American, you’re a target, by your own city police, for arbitrary reasons. And that it is truly entirely random, like lightning bolts and freak accidents. Only you’re MORE likely to be killed by the cop.

And once it sinks in, then you’ll be like “ooooooh”. And my caps lock, and my responses, and so on will be like “Oh, ah yea yea… yeaaaa…. yea we gotta get a move on this.” All of my response that you did not find amicable, you’ll realize was like a man shouting to you to “look out” and “watch out” and “wait”.

You don’t want to perpetuate for a second, the notion that this blacklivesmovement is anything other than people urgently trying to save the next life and the way they are doing it is lightyears better than how we’ve been doing things. Passive Aggressively. That’s American politics. Fake 50/50 split. Your side and my side equally responsible, equally at fault. That’s how the game is played now a days.

But let’s get real. Obviously the cops control the government. They intimidate the juries, they bully the rest of the government. But we hem and haw about how to react to the obvious obvious abuse and corruption.

We hem and haw because we’re afraid we’ll be the next target.
