Week of 27 Aug — 2 Sep

  1. What did you do this past week?

This past week went through pretty quick for me. I just arrived the States this past Sunday, the 28th. Other than moving into my new apartment and getting ready for school, I did not do much this past week.

2. What’s in your way?

I have to figure out my schedule this semester. I am attempting sixteen hours this semester. All of my classes this semester happen to fall on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, which is great.

It is not the worst thing in the world, however, I am working remotely 15 hours a week for the company I interned at this summer. It is going to be a very busy schedule, but I am not worried too much. I actually enjoy working hard on my CS classes and any CS related subjects, but i am a bit stressed/worried about the hiring season around the corner.

3. What will you do next week?

Like i mentioned above, the hiring season and career fairs are coming around the corner. I am planning to practice interview-type of problems as soon as possible, so I guess the first thing that I would want to accomplish next week is to start working on some leetcode and hackerank problems. I want to prepare myself as much as possible to secure an internship this summer.

4. What are your expectations of the class?

I have always wanted to be proficient in C++. I have done a couple of personal projects in C++ before, but I am by no means proficient. As a developer, writing good object-oriented code is an important skill in my opinion that I want to master. My main expectation is to be an overall better programmer after this class.

5. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

I feel like this semester would be as time demanding as the one I had OS. My tip-of-the-week for everyone at this time is to start early on your assignments. You will finish your work early and stress less. Of course, you can invest any extra time you might have available on your hand later on in learning new subjects.
