Should we catch them all?

I will guessbased on your article that you probably haven’t had too much experience with the games starting in generation II if you believe the devaluing aspect is only in Go. Starting in Generation II breeding was introduced and the game became numbers. People would constantly breed pokemon to get pokemon with the best possible stats for that pokemon and that is the one they would keep. The game series itself was less about developing a personal bond and more about using all sorts of different methods to create the most competitively strong pokemon, which it seems Pokemon Go shaped their game around.
