Virtually Everyone Is Getting Screwed by the Electoral College

Your dream is a nightmare and your article is an indication of your lack of understanding of our structure according to the Constitution. The United States was intended to be a federation of states. Period. A federation is an association of top-level entities. It was never intended that the federal government should interact with the individuals in the states directly (look up the word “federal”); all such direct interactions are gross violations of the intent of our founders. Individuals elect representatives of their respective states. The state representatives (in the case of electing the president, “electors”) elect the president. It was never the intent of the founders to create a direct democracy; they had good reasons to structure it the way they did, and apparently these reasons are lost on today’s populace.
