You can now watch the sun sink into the Pacific every evening, from home.

If there’s one thing we’re all missing, it’s the intoxicating glow of SoCal’s famous sunset. The tangerine hues of L.A.’s “magic hour” have a magnetism that no filmmaker, artist or sun chaser can resist. Luckily, the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention is ensuring your daily dose of light-gazing continues during lockdown.

“Collectively, we are on our couches, at our kitchen tables, peering out our windows and dreaming [of] the day we are on the other side of this pandemic. Whether a form of escapism or driving inspiration for a future trip, wanderlust is at an all-time high, and we want to bring a taste of Los Angeles to these dreamers while also providing the opportunity to learn something new,” stated Don Skeoch, chief marketing officer for Los Angeles Tourism.

Every evening, at 6:30 p.m. PST, tune into to watch the live streaming of the Venice Beach sunset from the balconies of Hotel Erwin.

Of course, being no stranger to screens, the whole scene translates beautifully online. You’ll watch the sky go from a pale blue into a deep pink as the golden globe disappears behind the palm trees.

Along with the sunsets, Los Angeles Tourism’s “Magic Hour” campaign will include a range of online experiences with artists, musicians, chefs, mixologists and photographers.
