This would be an excellent time to bring up Weinstein’s (or was it Peterson’s?) observation that - strictly evolutionarily speaking - suspicion of outsiders helped us survive owing to the likelihood of avoiding pathogens in a pre global travel and pre golden age of medicine world. We are (mostly) free of those dangers now, and are capable of using this knowledge to consciously free ourselves of such disgust of others and move towards a better world, but it does give us a context in which to understand all the anger and hostility we are witnessing the escalation of in the world today. And understanding gives us a better chance of successfully opposing it, rather than blanket unintellectual assumptions that anyone thinking a certain way must be bad to the bone.
