How I Created the Fastest Startup Content Curator and Made it to #4 Position On Product Hunt

We are aiming to become the world’s #1 startup content curator right from articles, resources, tools, events and what not to empower entrepreneurship around the globe.

Why?

Isn’t it the internet & social networks so crowded in terms of people as well as content being posted? Doesn’t that make it tough and nearly impossible to discover the content based on our interests and specific niche? That’s where the concept of Niche based content curator platform comes in.

Entrepreneurs, startup enablers, community initiators, investors always start their morning with fresh news and updates from the startup world. And they discover all great content from their favorite publishers, blogs and media companies. But what, if there will be an algorithm, travels to the internet, social media, hundreds of publishers, blogs and what not to analyze the popular startup content and delivers to you every 30 minutes under a single platform. Isn’t it the fast, effective and intelligent way to start our morning? That’s why I built Startup Around.

What is Startup Around?

It is an automated platform that analyzes the internet and startup trends algorithmically to bring you the popular content with quick summaries right away every 30 minutes from 100+ publishers from the global startup communities. How We Secured #4 on ProductHunt?

On Oct 20, 2019, we launched our first version on ProductHunt at sharp 12:01 AM PST in the midnight. Yes, time matters. At the same time, there were 14 products posted on ProductHunt and we started competing with each other for upvotes.

It was a roller coaster ride. I started getting visits to the platform. Gradually people were liking the product and started showering their love in terms of upvotes. Almost after 2 hours, I got the first comment on our PH page and I answered it with every possible detail so that if anyone else has the same question can refer to my comment.

Then I shared about the product hunt launch in my network through social media, messages and other channels. I was not asking for the upvote. If they like the product, then they will upvote it. So, do not beg for upvotes. Only announce about your launch.

At the end of the day, with 127 upvotes and 5 comments, Startup Around secured it’s #4 position on October 20, 2019.

Some of the tips that I can share based on my this first successful launch and other failed ones in past,

  • NEVER, NEVER & NEVER beg for upvotes. PH algorithms are so smart and trained to detect the quality of upvotes based on upvote intervals, users who are upvoting etc. That can move your product down in leaderboard even if you have more upvotes than other ones. Be aware!
  • Try to post at the first minute of the day which is 12:01 AM PST midnight. As PH resets every day at midnight of PST timezone. So, you will have maximum time (24 hours) to get discovered among PH community.
  • Reply to comments with every possible detail and respect the PH community users. This can help you to rank even hire based on how you reply to comment. This gives confidence to other users to ask freely in the comment and you will end up with an initial set of super fans for your product in a very early stage.
  • Stand out from the crowd. Use the GIF logo to catch attention. Add video, gif in the product media section. Use your creative skills to be unique in this very competitive platform.
  • Be creative at your first comment. You are a maker. No one can explain your product better than yourself. Mention your journey, features, value addition to their life after using your product. Mention in and out about your product. That makes the real impression and shows your seriousness about your launch.

Since then, the traffic is very regular. Today, we did not even complete a month after the launch and got tremendous response from the entrepreneurs, startup enablers, investor readers across the 80+ countries.
