[Day 1] How to find my dream job
I have been trying to find a new job for myself for the last 2 months. The biggest problem I faced was to motivate myself to keep searching.
Why should I look for a new job?
I feel that my current job as reached in saturation point for my learnings or let me put it in another way I am not sure if the work I am doing is going add significant value in my career. It is that fear that is driving my desire to look for a new job.
What is the problem in looking for a job?
The main problem I am facing is the lack of grit. I think and plan about the todos all day long but when it comes the time to sit down and make progress I fail. I feel like doing something fun / less risky.
I am still struggling from this problem and felt that I will write about my struggles so that If I am able to solve this, it might be useful for someone else out there in the world
Where can I find help?
- Books: I am reading the ‘What is the color of your parachute’ and 15-Minute Cover Letter.
- Quora : This is the next best place for me to find more ideas to improve my resume and cover letter. What I am trying to improve my pitch so that I will be able to get a foot in the door for an interview
- Friends: Reaching out to friends and asking them to give feedback on my resume / cover letter is another way, but it is taking more time
Taking high risks
- One of the most riskiest thing I can do is to put down my paper (resign) from my current company and start looking for a job.
You might ask me : ‘What is the problem that I am trying to solve with that approach?’ I am trying to get my self fired up to start looking for other jobs, right now. This is not an urgent thing for me, the stakes are not that high.
Ya, it is the most riskiest thing I can do.
What are my other options:
I need ideas to improve myself, the way to get more ideas is to work on it to identify the constraints or to learn more about what I want to do so that I can take actions every day.
This blog is another way to increase my accountability and to make sure that I am making progress.
