The scam that is Tone Vays —It Takes one to know one
I originally posted this on 11th October 2018 — see below for updates
The honest, whistle blowing, bullshit calling Mr Vays. Here to educate us and save us all from being scammed and even help us get rich if we follow his technical analysis and trading tips. Of course Tone does not practice trading himself(*see below*) and never has (beyond some bedroom trading), but he did have a job on Wall street back in the days before the crash when they would hire pretty much anyone that walked in the door and he does know the names of some programming languages, has lots of big books , he used to be a high school Math teacher and he can even use a spreadsheet so he is obviously an expert and well placed to know what he is talking about.
To give Tone some credit, he does understand marketing and he has developed some great strategies to get attention.
- He has worked out that if you constantly say bitcoin is going down, you can’t lose. If it goes down he is correct , if it goes up no-one cares because it’s going up and the people that got rekt shorting following his advice crawl under a rock to lick their wounds and hide from their wives/husbands or landlords. When the price eventually comes down again he looks correct again. Using this strategy he is able to build a false narrative around his know how and uses this to extract some money from low IQ audience that actually think they will get rich following his advice and buying into his workshops and other products.
- Tone is also well known for calling everything a scam. Ole Tony boy only goes on about all the scams so he can get the attention of people in order to sell his substandard TA courses , conferences and more recently the meat dinner things. You can get the TA advice for free all over you tube (see Crypto Cred and Chart Guys for example, if you’re into that).
Tone is actually pretty good at leveraging hate. if you don’t think this is a thing, google it. It’s a frequently used and successful marketing tool and has me talking about Tone right this minute and you reading this.
Tone is a special brand of scammer. Unlike the more obvious you tube scammers such as the parasitic piece of shit Suppoman, the slippery Crypto Lark and so on. Tone appeals to an audience with at least an IQ level 20 points above those that watch the other channels.
The sad truth is that if all Bitcoin and Crypto in general have to offer as representatives of supposed integrity are Tone Vays then it will stay marginal and within the counter culture. It’s actually quite embarrassing that he is even slightly considered an authority in the crypto space and he is a terrible ambassador for Bitcoin.
Fortunately there are plenty of people actually doing excellent work and I see little reason why the products they are building will not be hugely successful in the near to mid future. Tone Vays and the other Crypto Tube idiots are just holding things back and giving crypto a bad name by convincing people that if they listen to their voodoo shit, do their courses, sign up to their clubs, they will get rich and be successful. What a good educator should do is warn of the risk whilst exposing their audience to the potential.
A useful crypto/bitcoin representative should be promoting all the working products that can currently be used (not just the projects that pay them to promote or the ones that they own or that offer affiliate links) and encourage people to try them out and seek opinion and discussion on what users think about them and how they compare to competitive models. You can find a list of functional dapps here and here. Many of them are scams some of them are gems and how to tell which is which is what an educator in this space should be facilitating.
Finally, there is an ignorant and deluded element to Tone Vays. His mentality of “I hold bitcoin and if you buy something else my investment will not be worth as much” is that of a selfish child. It’s the same mentality that Tone exposes when he won’t share who the web developer and person that does the artwork on his channel is(*see below*). He thinks it will take some advantage away from him . This sums up Tone Vays perfectly and is all you need to know about him when making a judgement on how valid his commentary is.
Basically he will say and do whatever he thinks will give him the advantage and will lie, deceive and delude himself to protect his interests.
He’s a scammer. The fact that he exposes scammers does not alter that fact.
I am perfectly aware of the irony of this post — It takes one to know one. Perhaps I am a scammer too :) the only angle that i am aware that i am working is that i would like to hasten the integrity and functionality of this emergent technology.
*Two days after posting this on medium Tone gave credit to his graphic designer and actually made a trade (which may have resulted in massive losses to the less savvy people that follow his advice but i’m sure he made some $$ from the affiliates)

He still continues to spout absolute nonsense that the SEC can shut down Binance with a phone call.
I have asked him to provide some evidence or at least a rational discussion about his statement on the Law Review show that he has been hosting every Sunday evening for the last few months. Looking forward to the “Can the SEC shut down Binance with a phone call?” show.
