Boot-camp has been an eye opener for me technically, behaviorally and how I relate with people. There were challenges faced during the first week of boot-camp which included electricity, learning new technologies and knowing how to relate with people. For the past week I had to leave my comfort zone to be able to adapt to these challenges.

Initially I had to learn a lot of new technologies used for testing code and managing versions of code just to name a few. My daily routines changed because I had to meet up with the fast paced curriculum for boot-camp. I had to sleep later than usual, relax for lesser periods than I usually do and miss my favorite T.V programmes including the evening news.

Another challenge faced was communicating with my teammates. It was difficult communicating with my teammates remotely because the only means of communicating was by texting and sending screen shots of errors they were facing. I had to try to understand what error they are trying to tell me they are facing and I had to be as clear as possible for them to understand how I am explaining how to fix their errors. I learnt communication is a two way thing. You have to be understood and understand the message being passed across.

Electricity was the major blocker or challenge that I faced during my first week of boot camp. There wasn’t electricity in my street. I had to walk two streets away because that was were the nearest cyber cafe was. I had to always pack my breakfast with me every morning to the cyber cafe to be able to start working on my daily outputs as early as possible. It was as if I had another house two streets away from where I to live.

This past week has changed a lot about me including my daily routine and adapting wasn’t easy initially but within a day or two I got used to it and it became a part of me. Adapting to the past week made me learn a lot and it influenced the the way I react to any challenge I am faced with and also how I relate and communicate with members in a team I belong to.
