Why Social Audio?

Audio is the most human of mediums, the most empathic, the most vulnerable, the most true.

Consider text, so easily scanned, so manipulated toward reaction and outrage. Consider photo and video, so focused on appearance, on falsity.

Only audio holds the promise Vannevar Bush imagined in 1945 … a human-machine collaboration that makes us more human. Social Audio promises nothing less than an automated way to not only tap into the wisdom of humanity but to shape that wisdom.

Only audio promises to link poetry with processors — to give voice to that rebellious sense of wonder, that precondition for gratitude, that foundation for all creativity.

We imagine a world in which every person on the planet not only taps into the sum total of all human knowledge but through the intermingling of minds forges new thoughts … new wisdom.

Go back to the cave, conversations around campfires, then leave the cave, soar above the trees, above the forest, and link every wise human, every friend. Link them all to each other. Link their wisdom, link their empathy, their vulnerability, and let those links create a new story.

If the medium is the message, then future of social is audio — audio-first, audio-only. Technologists must develop for humanity, for substance, not to monetize it, but to enhance it. We must no longer reduce individuals to so many bits and bytes. Our mission must be to amplify vulnerable voices, shaping our shared story around the better angels of our nature.

The social entrepreneur must never forget why she started her company, or who she works for … wisdom, community, and each other.
