A Guide To Buying Bulk Meat

You might think you don’t need to buy your meat in bulk, but there are several reasons to do just that. DBC tells us why bulk meat purchasing makes sense.

The obvious reason you should consider purchasing bulk meat is the cost savings to be had. It is simply a cheaper way to buy your meat and who doesn’t want to save money? With ever rising costs of living including grocery bills, buying from your local butcher in bulk will save you not only money but time. Placing an order for bulk beef, pork, lamb and chicken once every few months instead of once a week will save you precious time and dollars.

Bulk meat packs are a great option for celebrations of all kinds now, from weddings to birthdays and even Christmas. Lots of couples planning their weddings choose to have a spit roast as their main catering — this can be expensive but purchasing directly from the butcher cuts out unnecessary middlemen and has significant cost savings attached. Christmas is another time of year where we gather our family and friends and celebrate with a beautiful meal — while this is a happy time for everyone, it can sometimes be stressful for the hosts and the costs can soar if not kept in check. By ordering in bulk for your next celebration or gathering, you can rest assured that you will get just what you need and at a great price too.

Like the idea of buying bulk meat but not sure you have enough freezer space to store it? It may actually take up less space than you think — 18kgs of meat will take up approximately 1 cubic foot of freezer space. Chest freezers on the smaller end of the scale (around 150 litres) can hold over 5 cubic feet worth of goods. This gives you a rough idea of what you can fit in your current freezer. If you go down the route of buying wholesale meat, it may well be worth investing in a separate freezer. Chest freezers are inexpensive and usually have a better seal, so works better at keeping the freezer at the required temperature.

If you don’t think you need that much meat to warrant a bulk order, why not share an order with a friend? Not only can you save yourself money but your friend will save too.

Dardanup Butchering Company has a great range of bulk meat purchase packs available for purchase, including bulk beef, lamb, pork and chicken.
